On Wednesday 25th of September, 24 pupils from 3 rd , 4 th , 5 th and 6 th class in Ballybay bravely
stepped forward to represent their school in the Roscommon County Cross County Championships. It
was a massive achievement for these students to be selected for the school team and they did
themselves proud. They joined over 1000 children on the day to take part in Roscommon’s largest
sporting event for primary schools. Congrats to all who took part especially the 5th/6th class Boys team
(Rian Murphy, Lorcan O Dwyer, Seán Connaughton, Tiernan Reynolds, Senan Collins and Zack McHugh)
who took home the winning Trophy for the second year in a row, and individual medalists Reiltin
Mannion (1st) and Mia Keenan (7th) who also qualified for the Connacht Finals which takes place on Sat
3rd October. We wish these pupils the very best of luck. Also, a special thanks to Ms. Clyne and Ms.
Mulroy for preparing the pupils for the competition and to all the teachers for bringing their pupils out
everyday for a run. It’s great to see all the great work paying off.
